As with any other software we recommend making a backup of the distribution disk before installing.
New Features in FotoMagic Series 1 Version 1.2:

･ The filters; "ColorRanger II", "ColorFilters", "ColorNoise", "ColorScaler" and "ColorSwitcher" can select color from anywhere on the screen, including the host application, the desktop or any other open application. Click on the Hue Bar in "ColorNoise", "ColorScaler" and "ColorSwitcher", release the mouse button once the "eyedropper" cursor is over the color you wish to be selected. With "ColorRanger II" click while holding down the option button on the color swatch to the left of the 32 color palette.
･ The "ColorReversal" filter incorporates a sophisticated method to convert color negative film scans into a positive image. The filter will automatically try to compensate for differences in color due to the film's acetate. The filter can't compensate for color casts caused by different scanning equipment. We suggest that you scan the negative image on the highest quality scanner available at the highest dpi setting. If the scanning software allows adjustment of the color cast or gamut of the image set the scanner to produce a "raw" scan.
･ All version 1.2 filters feature a movable window, you may click anywhere within the gray bar across the top of each filter and drag it anywhere on the screen. This is very useful, especially when you are using the eyedropper to retrieve color information from an image that would be covered by the filter.
･ All version 1.2 FotoMagic filters now can be used in CMYK as well as RGB color space. As with version 1.1 we still feel that the best color corrections can be done in the RGB space as the final color is more predictable. When processing a CMYK image the filter must choose correction colors which are available under the CMYK mode and thus sometimes the actual color may vary somewhat from the filter's preview display. This variance should not be viewed as wrong but rather it is a consequence of the smaller gamut of CMYK. Also different host applications use different algorithms in converting colors to and from CMYK and different methods in generating the black or K component.
･ As all version 1.2 filters now have a live preview incorporated, the separate stand alone Preview application has been removed. Version 1.2 filters do not contain any pixel data as in version 1.1. Whatever area has been selected in the image will be displayed in the live preview display. The only restriction is that the ratio of the selected height to width, or width to height, must be equal to or less than 100:1. This limit is imposed to ensure that a viewable preview can be created. In the event that you select an area that is has a ratio higher than 100:1, the filter will issue an alert message and allow you to resize the selection.
･ If you are upgrading from Version 1.1, please remove the file called "Preview" from the folder that contains the filters. Also please remove any aliases you have created for the Preview application. You can drag this file to the Trash and then select Empty Trash from the finder's menu.
･ The preview button has been removed from version 1.2 as the new filters automatically and continuously update the "filtered" preview.
･ The foreground/background color pickup buttons have been removed as those filters which could benefit from importing the host's current colors can use the eyedropper to sample the actual color boxes within the host application.
･ More presets have be added, especially to ColorFilters. Experiment with different settings, you can either create new settings or update existing settings. To create a new setting, click on the "Save As" button, to update a setting whose name is shown, click on the "Save" button.
